Iowa day trips
Getting tired of the same old routine? Take the day with your sweetie, get out and explore some of the amazing things Iowa has to offer. Here are our top three picks for day trips in Iowa.
Iowa has some amazing cave systems, and Maquoketa Caves State Park is a great place to explore some of them. With one of the most extensive series of caves in the state, you can spend hours poking around in the darkness with a flashlight and a friend, and enjoy the year-round cool, damp weather underground.
Is there anything more American than a state fair? Iowa’s fair is one of the best in the nation, with more attractions, food vendors, rides, and displays than you can shake a stick at. Be sure to wear a comfortable pair of shoes, and bring your sunscreen for this fun time at the fair.
Iowa has a lot of pioneer history, and the Amana Colonies is one of the best places to see it. These seven villages were originally settled by German Pietists, who fled religious persecution in Germany. This independent colony was able to support itself for 80 years by making and selling hand-crafted items, and is now a popular tourist attraction.
